Sort Lines: Organize Text Alphabetically or Numerically

Sort lines of text alphabetically, numerically, by length, or in reverse order. Clean and organize lists, data, and text in seconds.

What It Does

The Sort Lines tool sorts text lines using multiple methods: alphabetical (A-Z or Z-A), numerical, by line length (shortest or longest first), and random shuffle. It supports case-sensitive and case-insensitive sorting and can remove empty lines.

How to Use It

Paste your text with one item per line into the input area. Select your sort method from the options. Click Sort to see the organized output. Copy the sorted text or download it as a file.

Tips & Tricks

Use numerical sort for lists with numbers to avoid the common issue where 10 sorts before 2 in alphabetical mode. Remove empty lines before sorting for cleaner results. Use reverse sort to quickly flip a sorted list.

Use Cases

Developers sort import statements and configuration entries alphabetically. Data analysts organize and clean up exported data sets. Writers sort reference lists and bibliographies for academic papers.
